McAfee releases security products for Apple Macs

Security company McAfee has released two security products designed for Apple Macs.

The operating system has escaped many of the malware threats that have plagued rival Microsoft's Windows programmes, but with a growing number of businesses using Apple Macs, this could change.

McAfee Internet Security has been devised to offer more secure web browsing by shielding users from malicious online content and flagging up websites that are not legitimate, such as fraudulent online banking sites.

Once the software is installed, it allows users to see ratings in 22 different search engines telling them how secure a webpage is.

In addition, it features a two-way firewall to keep tabs on incoming and outgoing data, while it also uses malware scanning to shut out all known Windows and Mac spyware, adware and viruses.

It is hoped the software will bring added security for the ever-increasing number of IT professionals who use Macs.
