"We filled the vacancy the next day"
IT departments urged to lead the way
IT departments should lead the way as businesses seek to steer their way through turbulent financial times, it has been said.
According to the Naked CIO, an anonymous chief information officer writing for Silicon.com, all companies can benefit from IT department-led initiatives.
"I believe the IT department should have more ownership and involvement in business activities. In fact it should be leading key value-oriented initiatives at an organisational level," the article stated.
It is the responsibility of those working within it to innovate and drive future growth by introducing cost-effective measures, it urged.
The key now for IT departments is to "lead more and follow less", but with a collaborative approach in mind, the article added.
There has been a lack of cohesive data integration and a growing trend for poor organisational processes as a result of IT taking a backseat, the Naked CIO concluded.
A previous article on Silicon.com advised IT professionals to support their management staff.
