CV should be tailored for specific job
Tailoring a CV to fit the criteria of a specific IT job is the best way to enhance your chances of getting a job interview, an expert has said.
According to Keith Potts, chief executive of a recruitment agency, many applicants fail to modify their CVs for particular roles and just use the same template.
"The important thing for job seekers to remember is to be targeted in your applications," he advised.
Research by outsourcing firm MyWorkSearch found that over a third of jobseekers have made more than 100 applications, with 32 per cent getting just one interview or none at all.
Mr Potts advised: "Don't think that sending your CV out to hundreds of irrelevant jobs will increase your chances.
"It'll just waste your time and potentially annoy employers and recruiters, which isn't something you want to do."
He encouraged jobseekers to highlight their greatest attributes and achievements in order to stand out from the crowd.
