CIOs 'should use the iPad to deliver innovation'
Chief information officers (CIOs) should embrace the Apple iPad as a means of delivering innovation, an expert has said.
According to industry commentator Chris Curran, writing for CIO.co.uk, the next-generation device provides IT decision makers with the necessary tools to drive innovation.
He noted that consumers have flocked to get their hands on Apple's handheld computer tablet but admitted he remains unsure if enterprise will recognise its potential.
"It's not yet a great general business computing device that could replace laptops and desktop computers, but the iPad has already carved a niche for Apple," said Mr Curran.
"The ball is now in the court of CIOs and their counterparts on the business side to develop innovative applications that will help fuel growth."
Jeremy Horwitz, editor-in-chief of iLounge, said that the iPad would change the face of computing
"I have no doubt that iPad represents the future of computing," he said.
