Ladbrokes looks to sharpen up its IT
Ladbrokes is looking to increase its online market share by investing more money into its technology infrastructure.
The bookmaker has plans to make its business more consumer-focused and recognises the role that IT has to play in boosting its performance.
Richard Glynn, Ladbrokes' new chief executive, recently conducted a three-month review of the company's operations and said his findings revealed a number of "key areas where we have the opportunity to improve our performance".
He added that he would seek to implement changes to the firm's online offering as part of a general reshaping of Ladbrokes' IT fabric.
With that in mind, Mr Glynn appointed Garry McIlraith as managing director of digital channels, international and strategy.
The company's profits were up by 5.1 per cent in the first half of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, while its eGaming operation performed even better with a 39.9 per cent jump from £20.8 million to £29.1 million.
