Directgov undergoing review to maximise potential
The government's central web portal, Directgov, is being reviewed as part of a bid to improve its service levels.
Digital champion Martha Lane Fox is leading the online review, which will remain open until September 3rd.
Views from the public are being encouraged on how the government should achieve Directgov's objectives to publish important information and advice; manage transactions, such as arranging a provisional license; and make data more accessible, such as salary details.
In addition, opinions are being sought on whether central government should be responsible for providing a platform for the delivery of digital services by other parts of the public or voluntary sector.
"It's not often you get the opportunity to step back and assess how things should be different, so I'm interested in all ideas – particularly the radical and off-the-wall," Ms Lane Fox said.
The mission statement of Directgov is to provide as many public services as possible in one easy-to-use resource.
