Demand set to grow for IT workers with hybrid skills

IT professionals who can combine technical ability with businesses management skills will be highly sought after when the anticipated jobs boom kicks in, an expert has said.

According to CompTIA, the future of the industry lies in the hands of multi-skilled workers who can call on experience within the industry, leadership traits and certifications.

Technology job growth is expected to be significant in the coming few years and Terry Erdle, senior vice president in skills certification at CompTIA, noted that the demands of the industry are changing.

"Trends in technology are changing the employment landscape," he said. "It doesn't mean that we don't need people. It's just a different kind of job."

Mr Erdle added that people within the industry and those looking to break into it should see the changes as an exciting challenge that needs to be met.

Seth Kulakow, the chief information security officer for the state of Colorado, US, recently said that IT workers need to ensure they have a diverse skill set in order to flourish in the industry.
