Europe's PC market grows
Western Europe's PC market has grown dramatically in the second quarter of 2010.
In the three months ending July 1st, PC shipments in Western Europe grew by 19.6 per cent year-on-year - which could lead to a rise IT infrastructure recruitment.
According to research by international IT sector analyst Gartner, PC shipments in the region topped 15.6 million during the three-month period.
Ranjit Atwal, research director at Gartner, said: "Western Europe showed continued growth in the second quarter, recovering quickly from the slowdown seen in the first half of 2009.
"The PC market has so far defied the general economic downturn, but the real test will be in the second half of 2010."
Mr Atwal concluded that despite wider economic concerns on the continent, competitiveness in Europe's PC market is at the highest level it has been at for many years.
Recent research from the Yankee Group has shown that the Software-as-a-Service sector is performing well despite the downturn.
