Businesses 'won't cut infrastructure recruitment'
Small and medium-sized businesses are finally realising the importance of IT infrastructure and the part it plays in making their business a success.
According to industry news provider IT Contractor, there has been a "sea change" in attitudes towards computing and networking on a business level – extremely positive news for IT infrastructure and applications recruitment.
The organisation's Gerry McLaughlin said: "In previous downturns IT was seen as a cost and, as with the marketing budget, it was easy to cut."
"However, this time round IT was seen as both a cost-cutting enabler and as too crucial to the business."
He claimed that now the information age is well established, IT infrastructure and software is seen as a big differentiator between companies.
Mr McLaughlin said that businesses do not want to see their rivals recover more quickly from the recession by standing by while they invest in IT infrastructure recruitment.
Recent research from e-skills UK has shown that the ICT labour market is in relatively good health, with confidence in the sector above average in the first three months of 2010.
