IT firms do care about green credentials
The majority of IT firms do care about the environment and the steps they can take to mitigate their impact on it, an expert has said.
In a blog for ZDNet, industry commentator Tamara Digitalis noted that the industry was making genuine strides to improve its green credentials.
"Most IT companies I admire take their green credentials very seriously, and most of them know there is still a long way to go," she said.
With various figures citing the IT industry as a huge generator of carbon emissions, the pressure is on to find ways to reduce those emissions through green technologies.
According to research from Eurobarometer, 83 per cent of Europeans say environmental issues play an important part in their purchasing decisions and the way they view companies.
In March this year, CompTIA, the global IT association, launched a green IT certificate for tech professionals.
