Surge in IT recruitment predicted for UAE

A "significant surge" in the demand for IT professionals such as infrastructure specialists in the United Arab Emirates had been forecast for the coming years.

Dulsco, the trade development firm, has claimed there is excellent growth potential for the IT sector in the region.

It noted that the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said that by 2013 the sector will be worth $4.7 billion (£3.2bn), up from $3.2 billion (£2.1bn) in 2009.

Dulsco said the UAE government's increased focus on attracting global IT firms and its efforts to provide online services had been key factors in creating new employment opportunities in the IT sector.

Satnam Grover, senior manager of contract staffing at Dulsco, said: "Expenditure on IT infrastructure has always been one of the priorities of the UAE government and the private sector, so I believe it is time to focus on recruiting world-class IT expertise."

The news comes after the International Data Corporation (IDC) issued a statement claiming that technology innovation is key to economic recovery.
