Financial services boost to IT recruitment

IT recruitment is on the up and demand for skills in the financial services sector has seen wages rise in that area, reports ComputerActive.co.uk.

Tony Babb, senior manager of IT sector recruitment at Badenoch & Clark, revealed a 150 per cent year-on-year rise in the demand for financial services IT pros in the first quarter.

"The top tier investment banks are scrambling around to fill 70 to 80 vacancies each," he explained

The figures confirm that "IT recruitment is showing strong signs of picking up in the UK," the tech news website said, as companies turned to skilled workers to boost their recovery efforts.

Candidates with expertise in cyber crime are also highly sought-after in the current market, especially among banks looking to bolster their responses to security threats.

Matthew Poyiadgi, European vice president of the Computing Technology Industry Association, recently told businesses that now "is a great time" to recruit IT staff.
