"We filled the vacancy the next day"
Entertainment industry is 'technology based'
Technology professionals are playing a major role in the innovation of the UK entertainment industry, according to a leading organisation.
The industry is evolving at breakneck speed as it embraces the digital age in a constant search for the next big thing, the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) has said.
Kim Bayley, director general of ERA, the entertainment retail trade association, said: "The UK entertainment industry is not only embracing technology, it is increasingly a technology-based industry."
"The pace of change has increased dramatically and more and more we are seeing the growth of intangible, digital entertainment products and a decline in sales of packaged media," she explained.
Despite this shift, Ms Bayley admits offline revenue streams continue to outperform digital revenues by some way.
Following a decline in the previous year, the UK entertainment and media market is expected to grow by almost four per cent up to 2014, research from PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed.
