E-retail set for Christmas boom
The e-retail sector can expect to see strong Christmas trading this year as the industry has survived the recession largely in good health, one expert has suggested.
David J Smith, director of operations at the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), has suggested that the sector has not been as badly affected by the economic downturn or the postal strikes as some other industries, meaning it can expect to see a good Christmas.
"Online shopping is proving remarkably resilient through the recession and during the recent Royal Mail strikes as well," he commented.
If Mr Smith's comments prove accurate there could be an increase in the recruitment of digital media experts from retailers seeking to make the most of the online shopping boom.
Recent figures published by digital market measuring service comScore found Friday November 27th was the second heaviest online spending day to date in the US this year.
