New Cobham radio network technology 'truly mobile'
New mobile surveillance technology developed by defence specialists at Cobham is "truly mobile", according to the manufacturer.
The firm is to unveil the COFDM radio network at this week's 2009 Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition and has described the innovation as "ground-breaking".
A line of sight of up to 30 km can be covered by the equipment, which allows users to deal with GPS mapping, video and audio communications.
In a statement, the organisation claimed the system is "ideal for urban environments".
"Unlike other wireless options, the COFDM IP Mesh constantly readjusts itself as nodes move, forming any shape of network," the company said.
The firm added it is a "robust and secure" product which combines four nodes into a "self-healing" whole.
Industry experts eager for a look at the product will be able to see it demonstrated on stand 969 at DSEI.
The event began yesterday (September 8th) and is running until Friday (September 11th) at London's ExCel venue.
