Production planning 'can be improved' with Quintiq software

Retail specialists requiring knowledge of Quintiq software might use a model recently employed by Dutch firm MCB, which has chosen to use the manufacturer's scheduling solution.

MCB will be able to combine orders with this tool, therefore optimising the use of stock and making efficient use of machine capacity.

It is also hoped this method of processing orders will result in reduced loss of material and, consequently, lower costs.

The Quintiq software selected for this task is specifically designed for companies that sell metal and metal services – and this is one of the reasons why MCB will implement it.

Peter Betjes, director of the company's Steel Service Centre, explained: "[It] was able to demonstrate in a complex demo that its software offers the flexibility we need and provides a basis for possible optimisation processes."

Last month, Quintiq announced the uptake of more of its software by Elval, an organisation specialising in the production of rolled-out aluminium products.
