E-commerce staff 'should underline security on every webpage'
Retail staff involved in e-commerce should make sure consumers feel safe on every page of their site, if one firm is to be believed.
McAfee stated online retailers could maximise profits by putting more emphasis on security functions, stating customers need to have all doubts erased from their minds during a transaction.
The organisation has conducted a study in the area and found conversions can be 11 per cent higher when there is visible proof that quality infrastructure software is being used.
It also estimated $21 billion of online sales have been lost through doubts about website validity and identity fraud.
Commenting, senior research analyst at the firm Shane Keats said: "Retailers shouldn't misinterpret shopping carts many of these potential sales return later to finalise [the deal].
"Understanding this delay is critical."
Among McAfee's tips is to make sure all of a website is optimised and professional-looking and choosing suitable trustmarks.
In related news, the firm has expanded the number of Hewlett-Packard BladeSystem machines its products are compatible with to include the c3000 and c7000.
