Oracle billing software 'can improve the environment'
Businesses looking to improve the energy of efficiency of their customers may wish to invest in Oracle software, if one recent example of its usage is anything to go by.
The Utilities and Customer Care Billing system, devised by the firm's applications staff, can improve the quality of information energy companies provide to consumers in order to facilitate greener day-to-day choices.
It has recently been rolled out in Texas in the US, where Austin Energy (AE) is applying it to its new Pecan Street Project a scheme aimed at driving new technology and business models forward.
Demand management programs form a key part of the platform's functionality, generating data which can be acted upon by the organisation's staff and consumers.
Commenting, senior vice-president and general manager of Oracle Utilities Quentin Grady said: "AE will be able to provide its customers with a clear picture of the relationship between their consumption and environmental impact and then offer service options to help change behaviour."
In related news, Oracle recently announced its Demand Signal Repository platform can help retail staff improve profitability.
The software aids shops' replenishment process, according to the manufacturer.
