Business broadband 'crucial in post-recessionary strategy'

Changes to company IT will be key for post-recession business strategies, according to almost two-fifths of chief executives.

The recent Gartner report found that 71 per cent of business leaders surveyed wished to focus on a return to revenue growth in 2010, with 43 per cent of respondents saying they planned to increase their investment in IT.
A separate report also shows that companies have major plans to increase their use of open source software, which allows a company to expand its IT layer while conserving costs.

The adoption of this type of software is expected to have increased fivefold increase by 2012, infrastructure specialists may be interested to know.

Jim Elkin, a consultant at Analysys Mason, which delivers advice to commercial and public sector staff in over 80 countries, said that "any systems that provide an interface between the customer and business should be received, optimised and if necessary updated".
