Microsoft Xbox 360 is 'most wanted' this Christmas

Those wanting a console this Christmas are desperate to go for the best offering that Microsoft can give them, according to a new survey.

Tech Digest reported on the findings from the latest survey from online shopping community Ciao, which discovered that the Xbox 360 Elite is well ahead in the stakes for the most desired piece of kit for digital media staff and others alike on Christmas Day.

After polling 730,000 UK users, it was found that the Xbox 360 Elite took 29 per cent of search terms, while the regular offering came second with 12.7 per cent, giving Microsoft digital media developers two-fifths of the market share.

The Sony PS3 Slim was third with 12.2 per cent of searches, Tech Digest added, while the usually popular Nintendo Wii dragged its heels in fourth place, notably as it is the only company in the top ten list to specialise in the production of games.

That is not to say it is not popular, though; in the first week of December, it was concluded that the Nintendo Wii was the fastest-selling console of all time, with six million sales in the UK since its launch.
