Expert: Beware the contents of your inbox

Business users should be careful of items that they receive in their email inbox, a sector expert has warned. Simon Crisp, director at online consumer guide Shopsafe.co.uk, explains people are naturally very trusting and this can turn out to be a problem in some cases. He says this is a matter of "great concern". "If something arrives in your inbox people are very trusting, because they believe their email address is personal. They don't believe anyone can send them an email. That's a great concern," Mr Crisp continues. He warns firms never to provide third parties with any of their personal information should they be invited to via email. Such details could include passwords, usernames or account data. Mr Crisp concludes by recommending people become "a lot more sceptical" about email and treat it with the same amount of caution as they do other forms of communication, such as the telephone.
