Symantec software 'can negate need for hardware purchases'
Infrastructure staff may be able to cut their procurement spend on hardware by investing in Symantec storage solutions, it has been claimed.
The software firm stated many firms invest in unneeded extra space, which can be created using deduplication technology.
It explained archiving and thin provisioning are among the tactics IT workers can deploy to cut costs.
Commenting, vice-president of product marketing at Symantec Steve Morton said: "After conducting a survey, Symantec found that more than half of respondents intend to buy more storage in 2009 yet 79 per cent believe storage utilisation can be improved."
The firm gave examples of recent customers who have taken advantage of its platforms, including Golden Temple, Health Alliance Plan and Molina Healthcare.
Earlier this month, Symantec announced details of a flexible payment scheme for its partners, allowing them to defer payment for its products.
In order to qualify organisations must prove they offer tailored anti-virus solutions to small businesses.
