HR professionals 'sing social media praises'
HR professionals are becoming increasingly aware of the central role played by social media in all areas of recruitment, including pharmaceutical and medical device manufacture, it has been revealed.
According to Medical Device Link.com, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter are in competition for the most popular social media tools used by HR executives and job seekers.
The news provider cited comments made by Clint Berge, vice-president of human resources at medical equipment supplier iCAD, that using social media had opened up new opportunities for him.
"LinkedIn has allowed me to cross a line that I have not crossed before. Before, I'd throw it on the [job] boards and encourage employee referrals," he said.
"Now I am able to recruit passively in the market for candidates who are exactly in my space."
Earlier this month, Robert Proctor from Reality Digital said that the integration of content found on social networks into Google search results will have a major impact on the online marketplace.
