iPhone 'dominates smartphones market'

Half of web-enabled smartphones - such as those popular with applications recruitment specialists - run using the iPhone's operating system, a recent report has revealed.

A further 25 per cent run off Nokia's Symbian operating system according to the report by Google subsidiary AdMob, which shows the level of dominance Apple has achieved within the smartphone market.

In addition, worldwide requests from Blackberry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) devices have increased 44 per cent over the past six months in the AdMob network.

Tim Gibbon, co-founder of the Social Media Portal, said that it was important for businesses, whether social network driven or not, to be building websites that are mobile-enabled.

"Touch screen technology, coupled with the social media functionality, has changed the design, look and feel of mobile devices forever," he added.

Worldwide smartphone sales surpassed 41 million units in Q3 2009.
