"We filled the vacancy the next day"

Signs of recruitment recovery 'beginning to show'

Project managers

recruitment could be set to pick up, it has been claimed, with recruitment agencies seeing more demands for staff.

Director of external affairs at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Tom Hadley explained that there are signs of "genuine recruitment activity" in the UK.

However, he warned that the recovery "is fragile", so the recruitment of project managers for organisations' internet, digital media campaigns and other projects "must not be taken for granted".

Mr Hadley said: "A lot of businesses will be quite cautious, even over the next year - a lot of people understand that things are still fragile and perhaps a lot of the new jobs created will be flexible jobs.

"So I think it's a mixed picture, with recruitment in the permanent and temporary sectors."

His comments follow the publication of a study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, which indicated that 1.31 million people had been made redundant during the recession.
