E-commerce 'boosted by value-added content'

The importance of retail staff in the e-commerce sector including interactive content on their employers' websites has been underlined by a commentator.

Devising "value-added content" can help to keep customers coming back to a portal, Modera suggested.

The key to managing this type of media is to alter it depending on an audience and its needs, chief operating officer at the software firm Siim Vips explained.

"In challenging economic times and with an extremely competitive online environment, brands need to … focus on building loyalty with their online audience - which in turn will drive repeat visits and sales," he remarked.

His comments followed a report by dotCommerce, which noted that although some UK retailers are seeing increased turnover through their websites, the potential of their portals is not being fully realised.

It found 50 per cent of organisations failed to include videos in their web presence.

Some 85 per cent chose not to publish a blog, while 45 per cent failed to include any editorial content at all.ADNFCR-2165-ID-19284215-ADNFCR
