UK leaves spam "dirty dozen"

The UK has left the "dirty dozen" of spam producers, according to a study. According to Sophos' research, the country is now the 14th biggest producer of the emails, accounting for 2.1 per cent of the global total. A total of 97 per cent of all emails received by business email servers is spam, the survey also found. This can effect monetary resources and weaken productivity, the firm has commented. Senior technology consultant at the company Graham Cluley said: "Computer users should know by now that buying from spam is contributing to the problem, as well as putting their personal information into the hands of criminals". His organisation has reiterated their advice to businesses to automatically update corporate virus protection. Earlier this month, McAfee announced that new research had found that spam can negatively effect the environment. Its Carbon Footprint of Spam study found that the electricity used to create the viruses every year was equivalent to using two billion gallons of gasoline.ADNFCR-2165-ID-19146665-ADNFCR
