New web technology 'can engage younger employees'
Businesses can engage their younger employees through the use of Web 2.0 technology, it has been asserted.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) remarked firms need to consider more carefully how they interact with all areas of the workforce.
It has commented after a recent study found almost half of 16 to 24 year-olds believe they could be better valued in the workplace.
Badenoch & Clark produced the report, which revealed worries such as being replaced are high on the agenda of staff.
Incorporating interactive aspects of the internet is one of the ways the CIPD has suggested better relations could be achieved.
Vanessa Robinso, head of HR practice at the organisation, said: "Online discussions and forums are something that is particularly appealing to that younger age group."
She added her comments could be seen as a "wakeup call" for companies looking to build better relations with all staff.
The CIPD is a professional body, setup specifically for those who deal with the management of staff. It has 133,000 members.
