New pharmaceutical recruit 'will bring experience to Procter & Gamble'

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced a new pharmaceutical recruit as the company's new global external relations officer.

Christopher D Halsall will take up his new position on July 1st 2009, replacing Charlotte R Otto who is retiring after 33 years of service.

He will report to global brand building officer Marc S Pritchard and Robert A McDonald, who is the new president and chief executive of corporate-related external relations matters.

The latter said Mr Halsall is armed with depth and diversity of experience and is the right choice.

"He has built highly productive relationships with government officials on five continents and with a full spectrum of influencers from consumer advocacy groups and journalists to health, professional and trade associations," Mr McDonald added.

Earlier this month, P&G acquired Zirh, a male grooming brand.

Although it was described as a small North American company, P&G said the product line-up and premium position were complementary to the portfolio.
