Windows 7 to be cheaper than Vista in 'important corporate milestone'
Microsoft Windows 7 is an important milestone for corporate users, it has been suggested.
Computer Weekly discussed reports that the operating system will be ten per cent cheaper than Vista, which frustrated some businesses due to its lack of compatibility with XP.
Applications recruits might already know that Windows 7, set to hit the market on October 22nd, will have a mode enabling this via running XP in a virtual machine.
Corporate vice-president and chief financial officer of the Windows Client Division Tami Reller elaborated on the price plan for the next operating system and explained the Upgrade Option Programme, which enables consumers and small businesses that buy a qualifying Vista PC to receive Windows 7 when it is released.
"We're essentially offering free rights to a future software product," added Frank Brod, corporate vice-president of finance and administration, and chief accounting officer at Microsoft.
Meanwhile, technology website Pocket Lint printed new pictures of what is reportedly the packaging for Windows 7.
