Email technology 'saves business £8k per hour'

Digital media recruits may wish to invest in email continuity technology, if the experience of one firm is anything to go by.

Fast Track, a sports marketing organisation, has avoided estimated losses of £8,000 by implementing the software, according to Computer Weekly.

It switched from using tape backups, which caused major disruptions in the past, the site relayed.

The company said it used products from Neverfail to allow workers access to its Microsoft Exchange server regardless of where they were and what time of day it was.

Users of the service are automatically redirected to a secondary server at the developer's base in Maidenhead should any connectivity issues be detected.

Speaking to the news provider, IS director at Fast Track, Magnus Leask, said the back-up system was particularly useful during the recent British Lions rugby tour in South Africa.

"We wanted our teams … to be independent and unaware of any disruptions to IT operations in London," he told the portal.

Neverfail also offers products for use with Microsoft SharePoint and BlackBerry Enterprise Server, among others.ADNFCR-2165-ID-19242540-ADNFCR
