"We filled the vacancy the next day"
UK renewable energy projects 'need more investment'
More money must be invested into wind farms, it has been asserted.
The Renewable Energy Centre has called for the development of such projects to be speeded up, which would be likely to lead to an increase in the recruitment of engineering staff.
A spokesperson has raised concerns about the UK meeting its targets on the production of green electricity, which currently stands at a 34 per cent cut in carbon emissions by 2020.
Welcoming the recent government move to plough £4 billion into such projects, the representative claimed there needs to be further capital from the private sector.
"The urgency of providing clean and green energy is becoming more and more evident. Without further investment and a reduction in red-tape, the UK will fall behind its green energy targets," she said.
Earlier this week, three UK banks promised to lend up to £1 billion to firms willing to get involved in manufacturing the technology needed for onshore wind farms.
Royal Bank of Scotland, BNP Paribas Fortis and Lloyds are working in partnership with the European Investment Bank to provide the capital, part of which will be doled out in the form of grants.
