My local authority client based in the Midlands are looking for two Environmental Protection Officers to join their busy team for a minimum of 6 months.

Job purpose:

The main purpose of this role is to protect and promote a cleaner, safer and attractive environment for the communities of district.

This will involve the promotion, regulation and enforcement of environmental protection, public health and statutory nuisances, waste and environmental crime and licensing legislation.

You will manage a full case load including noise, nuisance and other pollution problems, planning and licensing consultations and waste and environmental crime enforcement.

You will provide specialist advice, support and guidance on complex issues to other Council services and to external customers and communities.
What you’ll need:
- Ideally, you would hold either a degree or equivalent in Environmental Health, or in an environmental science or related subject. Similarly, obtaining a post graduate qualification in acoustics, or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in those areas of acoustics relevant to the post.
- You will have a detailed knowledge of the regulatory requirements and guidance relating to environmental protection and public health enforcement, as well as being able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in the general principles of criminal law and enforcement practice.
- You will be required to make site visits in a large rural area, so access to personal transport and a valid driving licence will be necessary.
