Food Safety Officer (Full time or Part time)

One of my local authority clients based in the South of England are currently on the lookout for a Food Safety Officer to join their team on an interim basis to help with their list of outstanding Category D inspections.

Roughly speaking there are around 200 Category D level inspections that need to be completed and you will be paid on a pay-per-inspection basis.

The majority of these inspections are labelled as broadly compliant but your key responsibility will be assisting the council to complete these inspections, their goal is to have them completed by the end of the calendar year.

The council can be flexible on hours worked so are able to accommodate for full time working hours or part time working hours either in the week or on the evenings and weekend.

Please do note each inspection will need to be thorough and given the proper due diligence needed so cannot be rushed.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 1 year doing the above within a local authority setting.

It is a MUST for applicants to have a completed food safety log book for this post and to also have the higher certificate in food control/safety.

Given the nature of the role you will be required on district to complete inspections. Admin duties can be completed whilst out on district by using the Councils tablet.

Contract Length: till the end of December 2023
Pay: DOE
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 37
District Mileage: 45p per mile

Interviews will be held next week for successful applicants.

If you are interested in this role, please send your CV to or call me on 0115 666 6399.
