Housing Options Manager

One of my local authority clients based in are currently on the lookout for a Housing Options Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

You will be expected to provide leadership to a large housing options service, reporting directly to the Strategic Head of Housing Services:

Salary: £50,779 – £53,819

Start Date: ASAP

Hours p/w: 37

Days required in office per week: 2 minimum

The housing options service comprises approximately 35 staff-

Assessment Service ( triage), Housing Options Service ( housing options officers) Homeless Accommodation Team ( TA placements)Private Sector Housing Team ( includes private rented scheme). The service areas are currently managed by team leader roles of which there are 4 reporting directly to the Housing Options Manager . There are also currently 2 project officer roles and a Reviewing Officer role which report directly to the Housing Options Manager also.

The post holder will need to be highly competent in budget management with a particular focus on decreasing temporary accommodation (TA) expenditure and innovative in their thinking for new TA provision initiatives. The ideal candidate will also need to be able to drive real and effective change in service improvement and effect culture change through the Council’s Values & Behaviours

All staff are required to work in the office for 2 days a week as a minimum. This is a corporate policy and not open to negotiation on an individual basis. Senior staff, such as this role, may also be required to attend on a more regular basis if the need arises. Our brand new Town Hall has excellent transport links by rail and bus services. There is also staff parking facilities close by.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
