Maintenance Surveyor

In summary, the role involves carrying out inspections for three days per week (days of your choice), four inspections per day (occasionally five when the need arises if a health and safety issue occurs that we need to attend straight away). This is to diagnose building defects, carry out damp and mould inspections and suggest suitable remedies. Works are then raised via a schedule of rates on a tablet and are then automatically sent to Centigen, our in-house contractor to carry out the works. If Centigen are unable to carry out these works (these tend to be larger projects), you would need to put together a mini schedule of works and we then go to a range of external contractors to provide us with a cost and then run these ourselves to ensure that the correct works are carried out, so there are some site visits for these too just to ensure that they are running correctly. The visits are pre-booked for you by our Contact Centre and you can carry these out anytime between 8am and 2pm each day, in the order that suits you. We limit the number of inspections per day so that you have plenty of time for the visit, travel in-between and enough admin time in the afternoon to raise the works and keep up to date with phone messages, emails and tasks. This works really well. The whole team usually attends the office on a Tuesday so that we can catch up on meetings, training and the Surveyors get together as a team for a catch-up to discuss outcomes on various jobs. You then also have an admin day when you are able to work from home if you wish. There are a few occasions when an extra inspection may be added if an emergency arises. As a Field Based worker, you are not obliged to attend the office each day, unless you wish to do so of course!
