Currently, the role involves:
1. Integrated Economic Development and Regeneration:
– Collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders and businesses to develop and implement an integrated, place-based approach to economic development and regeneration in the South Ayrshire region.
– Enhancing the economic profile of South Ayrshire.
– Utilising available funding to support economic initiatives.
– Securing investment opportunities to promote job growth.
– Encouraging economic regeneration in the region.
2. Representation in Growth Initiatives:
– Representing the Council’s interests in initiatives such as the Ayrshire Growth Deal and Regional Partnership.
– Building relationships with national bodies to drive economic development.
– Collaborating on efforts to boost employment.
– Securing further inward investment for the region.
– Advocating for a unified approach to business support and economic growth.
3. Town Centre and Locality Development:
– Promoting town centres and localities as attractive and well-functioning places for residents and visitors.
– Taking a lead role in the development, support, and delivery of Local Place Plans.
4. Funding Acquisition for Projects:
– Sourcing both capital and revenue grant funding to execute specific regeneration and economic development projects.
