Happy Ten Year Anniversary g2 Recruitment


2014 marks a monumental milestone for g2; we’re celebrating ten successful years of recruitment. As well as marking our Ten Year Anniversary, this year heralds some record financial figures for the company and if that’s not a reason for a huge party, we’re not sure what is! From humble beginnings through to today’s multimillion pound turnover, g2 continually develops its training programme and has received significant internal investment which has contributed to today’s success.

The 2013/2014 financial year rings in our largest ever turnover figure of £28m and a gross margin of £5.3m. This record turnover represents a 13% increase from 2012/2013 turnover. Compared to £37,874 turnover at the end of our first year of business, today’s figure means our compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is a whopping 82% - results we are very proud of.

At the time of g2’s inception in 2004 the company was run from CEO James Gorfin’s back bedroom in his Bristol flat. Compare this to today where operations are run across four separate offices – Bristol, Manchester, London and Houston, Texas – and this incredible growth can be hard to believe. What does our CEO make of this growth? “I am incredibly proud of the achievements that g2 has made over the past ten years. I look back over this time and sometimes have to pinch myself that a business started in my flat in Bristol has grown to a multi-sector recruitment company operating in a number of different locations both nationally and internationally.” With our office expansion going swimmingly, even more international office openings are in the pipeline.

It’s no wonder we’ve had new offices opening left, right and centre when you look at how our headcount has increased over the decade: In 2004 g2 was made up of just 3 members – James Gorfin, CEO, Simon Gillings, Sales Director and Paul King, Operations Director. Today headcount totals 65, comprising 45 sales consultants and 20 operations staff. All sales consultants partake in the g2 Academy – a unique internal training and development programme which ensures our consultants are experts within their market specialisms and allows us to serve clients to the best standard possible. “Our proven ability to recruit, develop and retain high level individuals gives me confidence that the best years are to come and far greater growth is in store,” says Gorfin.

Having rooted our foundations within IT recruitment, g2 holds true to this specialism with IT recruitment representing around 60% of today’s business. With our Engineering and Oil & Gas division generating around 40% of our business, we’ve successfully established ourselves as a market-leader within these industries too.

Of course celebrating success of this scale calls for a party of equal measure – in true g2 “work hard, play hard” style, we will be throwing a Ten Year Anniversary Bash of epic proportions. Set to take place this summer in Bristol’s stunning Ashton Court Mansion, the whole company will be invited to toast to ten years of g2, in what is sure to be a night to remember.
