g2 has worked with the Public Sector since 2004, helping Government bodies find the people they need across many technical areas. With challenges in budget and headcount common, g2 has built networks across key vertical markets to provide interim support. Whether it is in IT, Town Planning or Environmental Health, g2’s recruiters can help find the right person for the role and more often than not they have already worked through our books.
Over many years of resourcing for Government projects, g2 have become the 'go-to' recruitment partner and solution provider for more and more local authorities and Police Forces as well as the consultancies that support them. Providing contractors with an understanding of the processes and protocols that exist within Public Sector organisations is integral to them hitting the ground running, and with a vast database, access to a multitude of job bards and full LinkedIn Recruiter licences, g2 have become a highly credible alternative to the large managed services many councils currently use.
Our recruiters are well versed in the legislation around off-payroll tax, so clients can rest assured that our contracts are flexible enough to accommodate for assignments both inside and outside IR35. Our consultants are trained by our in-house L&D department to be able to provide a variety of compliant solutions to ensure that the limited talent available can be secured for our Public Sector clients.
“g2 took time to fully understand our needs and requirements, and sought suitable candidates at appropriate value for money to assist with this important task. The ethical approach and outstanding stakeholder management should be noted. . . . should the opportunity arise in the future, I certainly will work with g2 again.”Superintendent James West - Regional Implementation Manager, National Police Chief's Council
With such large system implementations typically taking 18-24 months and being very costly, g2 worked closely with the programme manager to provide a team of experts that could speed up the operation and save public money by halving the project duration.
Nottinghamshire Police were delivering a critical transformation programme, the implementation of Niche RMS. The goal was to create a single IT platform to connect five regional forces by allowing easy access to data for all officers. This required a complex software transition and vast data migration. Prior to g2’s support, Notts Police had used contractors from various suppliers and struggled to gain traction due to poor work ethic and performance standards. In addition to this, the initial strategic delivery partner had been removed from the site after multiple red flags had not prompted improvements. This is largely due to a lack of understanding of the critical police vetting process that delayed contractor mobilisation.
G2 got straight to work by taking detailed job specifications for all roles in the team and quickly
discovered that there would be requirements for software developers, network specialists and IT support to ensure a smooth implementation. Due to the g2 database containing an extensive police contractor network, it was possible to provide three candidates for each role.
Most importantly, with a deep understanding of the NPP3 level vetting required, g2 were able to work very closely with HR to ensure that all necessary process was followed and all candidates were cleared to start working well in advance of their first day.
