In her speech, Greta highlighted that science shows that by 2030 there will be an “irreversible chain reaction beyond human control that will most likely lead to the end of our civilisation as we know it”, unless permanent and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society have taken place. Greta went on to give a very moving speech telling MPs that:
“This ongoing irresponsible behaviour will no doubt be remembered in history as one of the greatest failures of humankind.
“You lied to us. You gave us false hope. You told us that the future was something to look forward to. And the saddest thing is that most children are not even aware of the fate that awaits us.”
“We will not understand it until it’s too late. And yet we are the lucky ones. Those who will be affected the hardest are already suffering the consequences. But their voices are not heard.” (https://www.energylivenews.com/2019/04/23/lowering-emissions-is-not-enough-they-need-to-be-stopped-altogether/)
Otis French-Saunders our Energy Expert at g2 recruitment in light of Greta’s speech at the Houses of Parliament said:
“Greta has some really valid points in her speech to the Houses of Parliament, all of which must be taken very seriously. G2 have followed the example of Ørsted (formley DONG Energy) and diversified our client portfolio away from the oil & gas sector and we are now heavily involved in the renewables market. We are seeing great year-on-year growth and the UK is at the forefront of both technological progression and new windfarm developments.”
