PLC/Process Control Engineer to join my client on a freelance basis to be based in the region of Cologne/Dusseldorf in West Germany . This is a full time freelance role in country.
The client has four production sites in the Cologne/Dusseldorf region and they are about to undertake a three year upgrade project for their PLC systems.
They are specially looking for a process control engineer with experience from a client or system integrator side, who can work with them to develop and deliver the package of works over the next three years.
START: Q2 (May/June 2024)
LOCATION: West Germany, between Cologne & Dusseldorf (Hybrid from site and home)
DURATION: 18 Month rolling (Three year project)
PLC/Process Control Engineer – Onshore Projects – Chemical & Petrochemical Sector
- Degree qualified electrical, instrumentation or automation engineer
- Experience in engineering, design and analysis for brownfield process plants
- Ability to survey experience hardware, making recommendations for replacement
- Ability to coordinate with a third-party systems integrator for multiple PLCs/SCADA upgrades
- Understanding of safety and shutdown engineering (Cause & Effect, Control Safeguarding)
- Conceptual, basic and detailed design experience – full EPC projects
- Working history with other departments (electrical, process, structural mechanical etc..)
- English language skills
- Conversational German language skills are also very beneficial
Key Tasks on arrival:
– Coordination with site-based team for surveying of existing hardware (PLCs)
– Preparation for implementation – surveying, engineering, concept provided to third party
– Trouble shooting for existing systems and upgrade planning
– Creating a plan for execution
– Coordination of systems integrators through project lifecycle
The role would suit PLC/Process control Engineer who has already worked brownfield plant upgrade and optimisation projects, the client is looking for the engineer to coordinate technically through the full duration.
