Cost Controller

We are looking for a Cost Engineer / Controller to join our client in the Cologne area on a rolling 12-month contract working on a plant-related Turnaround, with the opportunity to move into multiple projects after the initial 12 months – this includes TARs at other client-owned plant sites.

The client requires someone to work on cost control for a major TAR – including the management and calculations of budgets, TAR-relevant accounts, as well as procurement processes. A suitable candidate will have 5+ years of experience within this field, as well as being able to handle lots of responsibility while remaining creative and a key aspect of the team. The client wants a candidate with lots of practical TAR experience, but also someone who can be a valuable and exciting team member and player.

English language is essential. German language is beneficial. The client can offer a hybrid working schedule, but would need the candidate to be available for full-time on-site travel during execution phases.

Cost Engineer / Calculator Specification:

START: March / April 2024 – Interviews are being conducted immediately.

LOCATION: Cologne Area, Germany.

DURATION: Rolling 12 Month Contract (potential to stay-on until 2027+).

Essential Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge using SAP and Excel for cost control / management and resource planning for the TAR from planning phase and throughout to the execution phase.
  • Experience in working on multiple turnarounds.
  • Able to create a turnaround budget and determination of the expenses for deliveries and services during the planning phase as well as the creation of forecasts and provisions as part of the billing processes.
  • Preparation and implementation of regular cost reviews with specialist departments.
  • Able to effectively communicate on the client side and working with multiple contractors.
  • Fluent English language.

Beneficial skills:

  • Any knowledge of / experience with other cost / budgeting -related systems to SAP and Excel.
  • German language.
