We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead our engineering efforts on major projects, ensuring successful execution from development through construction and start-up.
Job Description: As a Project Engineering Manager, you will develop and implement execution strategies to complete complex petrochemical projects successfully. You will lead a global engineering team, collaborating closely with Project Management, Construction Management, and Supply Chain Management to ensure engineering integration into the overall project plan and schedule. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be a critical member of the project leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop overall Engineering and Design Execution Strategies and ensure completion of Functional Execution Strategies by Lead Engineers.
- Provide key inputs to Project Execution Strategies (Militarisation, Procurement and Contracting, Construction Packages) and make strategic decisions affecting functional engineering areas.
- Develop designs for the entire project, leading to quantity take-offs in support of major estimates.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Procurement Manager, Contracts Manager, and Construction Manager as a key member of the project leadership team.
- Lead the engineering aspect of project initiation activities, ensuring alignment with Procurement and Contracts Plan and the Project Construction Plan.
- Manage regional and multicentre scope splits between FEED and Detailed Engineering Design phases.
- Ensure comprehensive engineering designs by aligning internal and external resources, monitoring progress and performance.
- Empower the project team to meet critical goals and ensure effective technical coordination with clients and third-party representatives.
- Resolve issues arising from resource constraints and lead subordinate Project Engineering Managers.
- Managing multiple freelance Project Managers and Engineers.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
- Proven track record in managing basic and detailed engineering activities for large process plants.
- Ambition to increase responsibility in this role or other roles in Engineering.
- Proven ability and desire to mentor junior Project Engineering Managers and engineering team members.
- Strong organisational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to bring teams together to achieve project targets and goals with good commercial awareness and change management skills.
- Experience coordinating the development of engineering and design deliverable and activities such as Plant Design & Model Reviews (30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews), Module Packages, and critical equipment Packages.
- Experience managing/coordinating multiple freelancers (ZZP’ers).
