Structural Design Engineer

Freelance Contract Length: 9 Months

About the Client

Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy focused on delivering structural design, analysis, and project support for industrial construction projects across Germany. Typical projects include production halls, warehouses, process plants, tubular towers, steel platforms, and structural frameworks for industrial sites.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years' experience in structural design and static analysis of steel structures for industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, DIN standards, and German industrial building regulations.
  • Proficiency in RFEM, RSTAB, or similar structural analysis software.
  • BIM experience (Tekla Structures or Revit)
  • Experience designing frameworks, platforms, pipe bridges, towers, and steel foundations.

Desired Skills:

  • German speaking skills

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform static analysis and structural design of steel structures for industrial projects.
  • Design steel connections, joints, and structural details per Eurocodes and DIN standards.
  • Develop and review structural drawings, steel detailing, and material take-offs.
  • Collaborate with plant planners, architects, and site teams for coordinated solutions.
  • Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Support site teams during construction, providing structural guidance and adjustments.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, and industrial plant operators.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant. Working closely with different consultants and watching them implement the feedback, apply it, and then benefit off the back of it.
