Freelance Mechanical Supervisor - Pipeline Project (Chemical Plant)

Location: Remote, with occasional site visits to Essen, Germany

Contract: 12-month freelance contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee a pipeline installation project for a chemical plant in Essen. This role is primarily remote, with periodic on-site visits for inspections, progress reviews, and coordination with the client's engineering and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical works related to pipeline installation and commissioning
  • Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and the client's project management team
  • Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and report regularly to stakeholders
  • Review and approve documentation, including quality and test reports

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor in chemical or process plants
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline installation and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and engineering drawings
  • Fluent in German (spoken and written)
  • Eligible to work in Germany as a freelancer
  • Willingness to travel to Essen periodically for site

Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
