Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Construction Manager to lead the construction activities for a cutting-edge Waste-to-Energy (WtE) power plant in Stuttgart. Will be responsible for overseeing the entire construction process, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance while coordinating multiple stakeholders and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly related to waste processing and energy generation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams to align construction progress with design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement site-specific risk assessments and safety plans, conducting regular inspections and audits.
  • Manage construction schedules, track progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between client representatives, regulatory authorities, and third-party inspectors.
  • Lead the commissioning handover process, ensuring smooth transition from construction to operational phases.
  • Resolve technical issues on-site promptly to minimize downtime and maintain workflow continuity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Construction Manager, preferably in power plant construction or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Prior exposure to waste-to-energy, biomass, or renewable energy plant construction is a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, contract management, and site safety regulations (including HSE standards).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken).
  • Willingness to work on-site in Stuttgart and occasional travel to subcontractor locations or supplier facilities.
