We are working for multidisciplinary engineering firm based in Groningen, specialising in the design and realisation of utility and industrial buildings. We are also actively involved in structural assessments and retrofitting related to earthquake damage, particularly in the Groningen gas field region.
We work on projects that range from new industrial facilities to complex renovations of earthquake-affected structures, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and innovation.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in steel and concrete structures. The ideal candidate speaks Dutch fluently, and has hands-on experience in both new construction and structural remediation, including seismic engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures for utility and industrial buildings.
- Assess existing buildings for structural integrity and earthquake resilience, including site inspections.
- Design and plan reinforcement or retrofitting solutions for damaged or vulnerable structures.
- Prepare technical documentation, including detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Work closely with architects, contractors, and municipalities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Stay current on national and regional building codes, including Eurocode and NPR 9998.
- Contribute to project planning, timelines, and technical coordination.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, particularly with steel and concrete structural systems.
- Conversational Dutch (written and spoken); English proficiency is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of Dutch building codes, Eurocodes, and seismic design standards.
- Proficiency with structural design and analysis software (e.g. SCIA Engineer, RFEM, IDEA StatiCa, Tekla Structures).
- Experience with earthquake engineering, particularly in the Dutch context, is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, practical mindset, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
