Project Cost Controller

Job Opportunity: Cost Controller - Green Steel Project (Northern Sweden)

Contract Duration: 12 Months | On-Site Role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support a landmark green steel construction project in Northern Sweden. This is a 12-month, on-site contract position, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most innovative industrial developments in Europe.

In this role, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure that all project activities remain within budget, on schedule, and aligned with overall strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of cost estimates and budgets for major construction areas.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive cost control structures and reporting frameworks.
  • Monitor actual expenditures against budgeted figures; provide accurate forecasts and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Review and validate contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and performance compliance.
  • Conduct in-depth cost analysis and identify trends to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in project management, procurement, finance, and risk to ensure integrated cost control practices across the project.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in cost control or project controls within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant cost control tools and software.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant. Working closely with different consultants and watching them implement the feedback, apply it, and then benefit off the back of it.
