MEP Project Manager

Freelance MEP Project Manager - Hyperscale Data Centres (Client-Side)

📍 Frankfurt, Germany | ⏱ 6-12 months (extendable) | 💼 Freelance

We are looking for an experienced MEP Project Manager to join a client-side team delivering a large-scale hyperscale data centre development in Frankfurt. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical and stakeholder management skills who can drive the successful delivery of mission-critical MEP systems in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of MEP works (design review, procurement, installation, commissioning, handover).
  • Act as the client's representative, coordinating between design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Oversee schedule, budget, quality, and risk management, ensuring compliance with project objectives.
  • Guarantee adherence to Tier III/IV standards, German building codes, and health & safety requirements.
  • Support and oversee commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and final technical handover, including O&M documentation.
  • Provide clear and consistent progress reporting to the client, highlighting risks and proposing mitigation measures.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related).
  • 10+ years' experience in MEP project management, ideally within data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of working client-side with contractors and consultants.
  • Strong knowledge of German construction regulations; commissioning experience highly desirable.
  • Fluent English & German
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines.

Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
