Project Manager

Freelance Project Manager - Gigafactory (Germany)

Location: Germany (on-site, with some flexibility)

Contract: Freelance / Interim (12-24 months, possible extension)

Languages: Fluent German (native or C1/C2) + strong English

Start: ASAP / Q4 2025

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee delivery of a large-scale Gigafactory project in Germany. This role will manage complex engineering, procurement, and construction activities, ensuring the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day project management of design, engineering, and construction packages.
  • Coordinate stakeholders: client, EPCM, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee budget, cost control, and scheduling, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Manage risk, change, and claims throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive HSE compliance and quality standards across all workstreams.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports to senior management and investors.
  • Ensure effective communication in German and English with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven Project Manager experience on large industrial projects (energy, automotive, chemical, semiconductor, or Gigafactory preferred).
  • Strong background in EPCM / construction management environments.
  • Freelance / independent contractor, with ability to work in Germany.
  • Fluent German (written & spoken); strong English.
  • Excellent knowledge of contracts (FIDIC, VOB/B or similar) and change management.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or similar.

  • Freelance contract: 12-24 months, extension likely.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant.
